Annual Mtg. Jan. 19, 2019 & Sask. Produce Conference

The 2019 Sask. Produce Conference was held on January 19, 2019 in Saskatoon, SK.  It was well attended with some very informative speakers.  Relevant topics including bio-security in horticulture, explanation of the Safe Food for Canadians Act, northern vigor crops, explanation of the foreign temporary foreign workers program, the need for developing crop insurance for the vegetable and fruit industry, and ADOPT project updates. The SVGA annual meeting saw Bob Purton re-elected as SVGA president - thanks to Bob for all his hard work! Connie Achtymichuk showed her results from the 2018 ADOPT projects- thanks Connie! Following the meeting, a tour of the Canadian Lightsource Synchrotron was scheduled.  It was very interesting to learn about the research happening right here in Saskatchewan.  Thank you to all those who attended the conference and annual meeting.  We will be sending out membership renewal notices shortly.
